We in the solar industry are all keenly aware that we depend on support from our representatives in government to thrive. As a result of insufficient legislation and financial backing, Pennsylvania's Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) market is drying up and the PA Sunshine Program is being stifled from reaching its full potential. The PA Sunshine Program was allotted only $100 million in rebates when it debuted in the spring of 2009 following Congress’ elimination of the solar rebate cap. Two years later the solar industry is just starting to truly flourish while these funds are dwindling and incentives are shrinking.
As informed citizens living in a democracy, it is incumbent upon us to push our legislators to perform the morally imperative action of continuing to support state solar programs and the SREC market. We must show our politicians these programs are not only leading us in the right direction with renewable energy resources, but also creating jobs and bolstering a weak economy.
Below you will find an open letter from you to your local politicians. We urge you to please save a copy, fill it out, print it, and send it to your local state representatives.
